Billions of Atoms is a project started to promote humanity and human connection. You can find us on YouTube and Facebook. My name is Dean Mackenzie the founder of Billions of Atoms.
At Billions of Atoms, we believe in the power of small acts to create profound change. That’s why we’ve launched **The $20 Project**, an initiative dedicated to transforming lives one person at a time. By finding and supporting hardworking individuals who battle incredible odds, we aim to give them the tools to rebuild their futures. Our first mission? To make a life-changing difference for an inspiring woman in Vietnam named Yen (Meaning "Bird" in Vietnamese).
Yen is a kind, hardworking mother of two, from a province in Southern Vietnam, who has endured more hardships than most of us can imagine. After discovering her husband’s affair while four months pregnant with her second child, Yen’s marriage fell apart. She now lives under the roof of her ex-husband’s parents, sleeping on a mattress on the floor of their home. Despite her best efforts, she hasn’t been able to move out due to financial constraints, and her situation is fraught with tension.
Yen is the proud mother of an 8-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy. She’s an incredible caregiver, always putting her children first. To support them, she works tirelessly as a hairdresser from a small, makeshift salon in the garage of her ex-husband’s family home. Unfortunately, due to its poor location, she struggles to attract enough customers to make a sustainable income. Despite her challenges, Yen has not given up. She dreams of building a stable future where she and her children can thrive, away from the constant strain of her current environment.
Our Goal
At Billions of Atoms, we’re committed to helping Yen through **The $20 Project**. We aim to raise **$200,000 AUD** to provide her and her children with a fresh start by purchasing an apartment for them. This new home, “Yen’s Nest,” will not only give her family security but also the space to create a brighter future. Any additional funds raised will go towards establishing a professional hairdressing salon in a better location, allowing Yen to grow her business and achieve long-term independence.
Why This Matters
Yen’s situation is not unique for many women in Vietnam and other parts of the world, where opportunities are scarce, especially for single mothers. Living under such precarious circumstances also puts Yen and her children at risk. A secure home and sustainable income would not only alleviate her immediate struggles but also protect her from exploitation and ensure a hopeful future for her children.
Yes there are many worthy causes, but this is ours. Our cause is about connection with individuals and having a direct impact to changes lives. This is our current cause, one of many more we hope to pursue. $20 from 10,000 indiviuals or organisations is all we need. We beilive that Yen will never find security for her children without this support. While we are supporting financially we need assistance to help make a significant change in the lives of this family.
How You Can Help
We believe that transformative change is possible when communities come together to lift one another. By donating to “Yen’s Nest,” you’re not just giving money – you’re giving a family hope, safety, and the chance to thrive. Whether it’s $20, $50, or more, every contribution brings us one step closer to making Yen’s dream a reality. All funds will be transparently documented, and we’ll provide updates on the project’s progress to show exactly how your generosity is making a difference.
Join us in giving Yen and her children the home they deserve, while paving the way for her to continue her entrepreneurial journey. Together, we can build a nest filled with hope and stability for this remarkable woman and her family.
If you’ve ever wondered how $20 could help change a life, here’s your chance. Be a part of **The $20 Project** and help us make the world a kinder place, one life at a time.
Thank you for believing in the power of small atoms to create big changes.
We will consider making a video for our YouTube Channel to document this journey however this is not our primary objective.
