Hi, I’m Billie and I’m hiking an active volcano to help women reclaim their narrative and rise above the ashes.
On June 12, I’ll be climbing Mount Rinjani, an active stratovolcano in Lombok, Indonesia. It’s a three-day, two-night trek to the summit at 3726 metres high, with steep climbs, freezing early morning starts, and volcanic terrain. It’s not for the faint of heart, but I’m doing it with purpose.
This journey began as a personal challenge, a way to reclaim my narrative after a year of big change. But I realised I didn’t want it to be just about me. I wanted it to mean something.
Why this hike
Volcanoes are powerful, unpredictable, and awe-inspiring. Much like the process of rebuilding yourself.
Mount Rinjani has a crater lake called Segara Anak, meaning child of the sea, formed after an eruption in 1257 that changed the global climate. It’s a reminder that even after destruction, beauty and strength can emerge.
This climb is about resilience, independence, and choosing your own path, even when it’s steep.
Where your donations will go
All funds raised will support women rebuilding their lives after violence, poverty, or crisis. Half will be donated directly to Beyond DV, an Australian organisation helping women and children recover after domestic violence.
The remaining funds will support programs or initiatives in Indonesia aligned with this mission. I’ll personally manage the transfers and share confirmation so you know exactly where your support is going.
Your donation helps fund:
- Safety, recovery, and empowerment programs
- Real opportunities for women to rise after hardship
- Support that helps women reclaim their freedom, safety, and voice
Ways you can help:
- Donate what you can. Every dollar truly helps
- Share this fundraiser on your socials or with your community
- Follow along as I hike and cheer me on
Thank you for being part of this journey. See you at the summit.
