Hello Friends, Family and Strangers,
Our dear friends Bill and Jenny have been struggling with fertility for 5 years. Bill and Jenny are the most wonderful friends that have turned into family for those that know them. They are ALWAYS there to help and go the extra mile for everyone, even strangers.
The cost of IVF treatment starts at $10,050 for the first cycle, with an additional $8,000 for medications. I started this gofundme in hopes of spreading awareness of infertility and to hopefully help out this wonderful family with the cost of this adventure.
In Jenny's words:
Our family building journey can be likened to exploring a new mountain range. High peaks of hope and faith, low valleys of anger and grief, some surprises along the way, and an acute feeling of isolation. With infertility we are constantly exploring new territory. We've had five failed medicated IUIs, one laparoscopic surgery with fulguration of endometriosis, and endless diagnostic imaging. It feels like we're lost and wandering the forest, ending up with only answers that beg more questions. We've had to build new skills to adapt to our new surroundings.
Our journey began the same time I started my career as an ultrasound technologist. For the last four years, and through the COVID-19 pandemic, I have worked the front lines to care for mothers and their babies. Through miscarriages, advanced gestational age fetal demises, IVF babies, miracle babies, rainbow babies...my infertility has allowed me to be the best possible caregiver to my patients. In reaching new depths of understanding from my personal experience, I am able to extend support and empathy on the best and worst days of my patients' lives. I pray that soon I will be seeing my own miracle on that screen.
As only children we have had to completely redefine what the future of our family looks like for us and for our parents. In the autumn of 2019--just before our first IUI--my mother was diagnosed with stage IV cancer with a poor prognosis. We are so incredibly thankful she is still here with us, and we hope that even though we have struggled so much, she will get to experience being Grandma
It has been mountain after mountain, and in time we have conquered each one. One day we will reach our destination in our quest to build our family, and we pray that at the end of this road there is a beautiful soul (or a few), waiting to greet us.
