English Version Below!

Mögliche Projekte in Graz

Hello, my name is Rafal Fabianowicz.

I work as a freelance lecturer, teaching in a new education system every academic year. Some colleagues have started calling me “the lecturer from the suitcase” – a nickname that quite accurately describes my journey through European higher education.

So far, I have taught in the American, British, German, Hungarian, Austrian, and Spanish university systems, and I hold degrees from Germany, Hungary, and Sweden. By the end of this year, I will add another qualification – the British Advance UWL FHEA, an award recognizing excellence in teaching.

I teach courses in Entrepreneurship, European Union Studies, International Relations, Leadership, Political Science, and Sustainability – subjects that I combine across institutions and countries to make learning practical, critical, and inspiring.

Education opened the path for me to a life beyond borders: from a high-school dropout in Germany to an international university lecturer.

International education helped me find my way – and now I want to pass this experience on by giving young people new perspectives and showing what education can truly achieve.

I am currently teaching in Graz, a city known for its sustainability, openness, and innovation.

At Campus 02 University of Applied Sciences, I teach the course Sustainability and Ethics and aim to launch additional educational initiatives.

Beyond my traditional classroom, education should be accessible to everyone, and I want to foster dialogue between young people, citizens, and policymakers.

Possible Projects in Graz

1️⃣ A public lecture or event in a museum or cultural center on sustainable living and ethical action.
2️⃣ A “Green Talk” series in cooperation with local cafés.
3️⃣ An exchange evening “Young people meet Politics”, connecting young voices with local decision-makers.
4️⃣ A mini-podcast “Voices of Graz”, where interested people reflect on education and sustainability.
5️⃣ A collaboration with a local newspaper, highlighting perspectives of young people
6️⃣ An open class session in public spaces – taking learning literally to the streets.
7️⃣ A “Skills for Change” format, where citizens share practical ideas for sustainable action.
8️⃣ A small exhibition on sustainable learning, designed with young people.
9️⃣ The continuation of my format “Education – More Than A Perspective”, featuring interviews with political decision-makers about civic and political education.

A final event, “Education Without Borders – From Graz”, showcasing the ideas and outcomes of these initiatives.

Which of these projects will be realized during this academic year depends on the level of support this initiative receives.

I have implemented similar formats in Germany, Spain, and Hungary – always in places where teaching, sustainability, and civic dialogue come together.

Examples of previous public education projects, which I co-organized as a project lead at the European Democracy Lab within an EU-funded Erasmus+ initiative, can be found here:

A press report on one of these earlier citizen and education events, which brought together local, regional, national, and European decision-makers, can be found here:

Why I Need Support

In my previous teaching destinations, I have carried out many of these initiatives voluntarily and out of conviction.
Over time, however, it has become increasingly difficult to continue this work without financial support.

As a freelance educator, I finance my projects independently.
Your contribution helps cover materials, venues, equipment, and travel costs, expenses for speakers, etc., and supports the time and preparation I invest in making these projects possible.
This lets me focus fully on what matters most: making education accessible, creative, and meaningful.

With your help, Graz can become a place where education truly belongs to everyone – accessible, courageous, and deeply human.

Every contribution – big or small – brings this goal a little closer.
The first step will be a public open lecture in Graz, free for everyone to attend.

Thank You

With your support, I can create something in Graz that goes beyond my university teaching – a piece of open, European, and sustainable education that connects people across borders. I want to make a meaningful impact during my year in Graz before moving on to my next European station.

Education knows no boundaries – it begins wherever people are willing to learn together.
