Biking for Indigenous Languages
Tax deductible
Greetings, friends!
ELA Co-Director, Daniel Kaufman, here. On May 1, me and Ismael Alvarez (pictured here in last year's race) are taking on the grueling 40-mile Five Boro Bike Tour for the cause of Indigenous languages.
While serious athletes might scoff at a 40 mile bike ride through the city, for the two of us, it may as well be the Ironman Triathlon. We're putting it all on the line for this race and who knows if we'll even be able to make it to the finish line in one piece.
If either of us does end up making the ultimate sacrifice somewhere along the BQE, it should at least be for a good cause. That's why every dollar raised here will go to compensating speakers of Ismael's mother tongue, Tu'un Savi (Mixteco), to record, transcribe and translate their own stories at ELA, right here in New York.
Support cultural production in Indigenous languages and help us make it to the finish line!
