Makaika Kids is an organization in Tanzania that rescues orphaned children off the streets of Dar es Salaam. The children all live together in a village in Mkuranga where they are raised in a familial setting with a home, a mother, and 'siblings' - other vulnerable children who have been taken in by Malaika. 

They are given shelter, food, education, toys and love. However, they still face some difficulties.

The kids must walk up to 5 kilometers to and from school each day. They  travel very rough roads and it quickly takes a toll on their shoes. A brand new pair might only last them 3 months.

So we are raising $3,000 to buy the children 150 pairs of new shoes  (about two pairs per child, lasting them 6 months) and 20 used bicycles. This will allow the children to get to school easier and save their focus for their education and a better future.  As we are entering rainy season and the roads will only get worse, now is the time!

Malaika is a truly exceptional company that does right by the children, but with over 70 little bodies to feed and clothe and care for, they always need more help.
