BIKE THE LAKE 2019 KULE Foundation Kenya)
Donation protected
Y12 students from the International School of Geneva (Ecolint) La Chataigneraie have for the past ten years raised funds for a small community in Kenya which lacks infrastructure and educational facilities. Over the years working with United World College Lester B Pearson students a number of big improvements have been realised. Notably the construction and equipping of a library. Additionally modest houses for the destitute and water purification system have been added. The KULE project is now aiming to build a primary school so young children don't have to walk the five kilometres every day for their schooling. Every year a dozen or so students from La Chataigneraie and Pearson College go to Kenya where they collaborate with each other and locals in making these projects happen. Their experience is enriched by this collaboration but also the autonomy and agency they have over the fund raising and discussing with local authorities on the spending priorities. This initiative was founded by educator and Pearson teacher Geoffrey Tindyebwa who goes every year to inspire, empower and provide a unique experience of Africa.
We are delighted that this year Bike the Lake has so generously adopted the Kule project where proceeds from this magnificent event will ultimately help this important cause. You can find out more on Kule's website: https://kulefoundation.com
The Y12 student participants in Kule this year have worked hard to raise funds and it's a challenging difficult task. Your donations here will help them to reach their target. They are keen that this school is built and that all donations support this cause. They will be very grateful for your contributions and hope you have a fantastic ride around the lake on June 16th.
