A Quick Story on Sunrise, from the founder...
The Sunrise Leadership Foundation (SLF) is a youth service non-profit whose mission is to inspire Caribbean Community Investment through the development of youth leadership opportunities.
By focusing on high-school and college-aged youth, the core of our work centers on mentoring Caribbean Youth to acknowledge and develop their skills and interests---thus fostering ‘a direction in life’--- whilst at the same time, advocating on their behalf for opportunities within our communities that fall in line with that chosen direction.
Founded in 2012, The SLF has grown tremendously to mentor students at over 6 high schools in the Virgin Islands, as well as our local university and many more that they have gone on to around the World! Similarly, SLF students have been awarded college admissions assistance and scholarships, placed directly into the workforce, and have accrued over 500 hours of community service!
So, be it the desire to go to college or develop a trade skill, to inspire a career choice or give back to the community around them; The SLF is dedicated to assisting Caribbean Youth with the goal of permanently blending the ideals of purpose and passion within their own lives. And by holding students responsible along the way, ensuring they adopt total accountability for their actions and success in life, the SLF is proud to be represented by young men and women who are not only dedicated to their futures, but dedicated to pursuing those futures with honor and integrity.
How will this donation help SLF?
Since its inception in 2012, The SLF has mentored over 100 students without ever having that ‘home base.’ Facilitators met with students all over the island: In coffee shops, at the park, at the beach, and almost anywhere else you can think of.
Accordingly, the organization identifies its largest present barrier to success as being, ‘the need for one central location for students to call Home’.
But all of that is about to change with our help! As of a month ago, the SLF identified the perfect place to open up shop--- a building less than half a mile away from the largest high school in St. Thomas--- and is now raising money to pay the security deposit and the rent!
Therefore, the Founder and I have agreed that 75% of every dollar raised will go towards securing rent, and the rest will go towards funding and developing SLF programs and services that students rely on and utilize every day!
Once again, thank you all so much for your desire to support a great cause! I am so grateful for this opportunity to help my local community while also providing the opportunity for others to give. Individually, we each have so much ability to affect the World around us. When we all work together, the potential is endless. I’m so honored to be a witness, as we all make this positive difference together.

*The SLF is a locally registered non-profit that has its national IRS 501c3 application pending final approval. The approval is expected shortly, and we will notify all donors immediately when that happens. Donations will be retroactively tax deductible upon approval.
