So... as many of you may be aware by now, our dear friend Gerard is currently undertaking chemotherapy and radiation treatment for advanced throat cancer.
He's had a hell of a time, beginning this journey during COVID quiet times and struggling as most of us did in isolation. In mid December he had major surgery on his throat and he is now adjusting to a very new way of life while he undergoes this further treatment five days a week for the next 7 weeks.
Of course, Gerard is a survivor of the most impressive kind and has carried on to this point with bells and whistles and a positive attitude. He has put the weight back on he lost before his surgery and is focused on building his strength with a fridge full of healthy food.
Unfortunately Gerard received another blow during this period and has been served a notice to vacate the house he has called home for the past 13 years as the owners have decided to sell. He has been asked to move very soon after the treatment he is undergoing ends, of which he has several more weeks to go. He isn't able to work currently, and the energy he has goes into his healing, his garden and his two beautiful daughters. This is an extremely stressful time for Gerard and he is probably too proud to say he needs your help.
As a friend and having known Gerard, through thick and thin for twenty odd years I know him to be nothing but a trooper. Right now Gerard needs all the love and support he can get and I would love to see a money tree grow for him to see him through this incredibly difficult time. It will help him transition into secure housing, keep the healthy food coming in and take the pressure off him so he doesn't feel he needs to worry about working when he is experiencing such a massive diagnosis and treatment regime. We want to support him so he can focus on recovering, rehabilitating and getting healthy, and it will show that there is a group of people out there that love him. Which in this time is the best we can do.
