The Big 5 Marathon is no ordinary race — it’s held deep within a game reserve in South Africa, where runners push through rugged terrain under the watchful eyes of some of the world’s most iconic wildlife. Think lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, and buffalo — the legendary Big 5. There are no fences, no shortcuts, just raw determination, wild beauty, and the relentless challenge of the African bush. But for us, this run goes beyond personal endurance. We’re taking on this challenge to stand in solidarity with people doing it far tougher than we ever will — the thousands of Australians facing homelessness every single day. People who don’t have the luxury of comfort or safety, who are living in cars, couch surfing, or sleeping rough — not because they want to, but because they’ve been pushed to the margins with nowhere else to turn. We’re running to raise both funds and awareness for those who are too often unseen and unheard. Every step we take in Africa is a step for someone back home still struggling to find stability, safety, and hope.
