Big Bend Labor Chapter Fundraiser for Capital City Youth Services (CCYS)

On Labor Day, Sunday, September 1st, 2025, the Big Bend Labor Chapter, AFL-CIO will continue our tradition of giving back to the community by hosting a public forum and fundraiser for Capital City Youth Services (CCYS) at the American Legion Hall at Lake Ella in Tallahassee from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM.

This year, we’re proud to support CCYS, an organization that provides guidance, shelter, and support to youth and families throughout the Big Bend region. When young people or families are in crisis, CCYS steps in to listen, respond to their needs, and help them find a path forward. Whether through street outreach, family mediation, or emergency shelter, they are committed to making sure no youth falls through the cracks.

We are asking you and your organization to support this effort in the following ways:

We have an opportunity to uplift youth and families who often lack the voice and resources that we, as unionists, enjoy all year long. Your donation will go directly to CCYS to support their critical work helping young people navigate crises and move toward stability and success.

Labor Day Program

Following a 9:00–10:30 AM Labor Day protest at the Capitol, we’ll host a public forum featuring labor leaders and community advocates to discuss how legislation passed in Florida has spread nationwide—and how we can organize in response. Panelists to be announced soon.

In addition to the discussion and fundraiser, we’ll gather in fellowship with union members, allies, and community partners.
