Raising money for Bone Cancer!
Hi, my names Chelsea and in June 2024, I was diagnosed with bone cancer.
Hearing those words at 22 years old, changes your life and words I never thought I’d ever hear. I went from riding horses and playing netball to suddenly becoming unable. As you can imagine, it was a lot to process mentally, as well as physically.
I went from riding my horses daily and playing netball twice a week, to being in excruciating pain and spending most of my days in bed and unable to do those things I love so much. My whole world turned upside down…
But, compared to others, I am / was so incredibly lucky, to have the prognosis I have, to be able to have a second chance at life and be able to do the things I love again.
I am starting to get my fitness back, and begin to play netball again, whilst having chemotherapy, which is something that’s always helped me mentally. Whilst I am still fighting my bone cancer battle, it’s helping me feel a little bit more like myself again. The last 6months, times have been very tough and I felt so poorly and mentally it put me in a very dark place. To have a little bit of joy, I spent my time watching netball on repeat, a netball pass to watch SSN and watching the netball super league!
So my friends who are also huge netball advocates and have an incredible netball league in the west midlands (net set go) have a netball tournament every year and each year they pick a charity.
This year on behalf of me they are picking bone cancer research. I want to spread as much awareness as possible, as by recognising the signs, and pushing for tests, it’s saved my life. Bone cancer isn’t spoken about enough, the signs of mine was toothache. Bone cancer is one of the hardest cancers to diagnose and it’s often misdiagnosed.
I now want to take my story and turn this experience into a positive and make it my mission to make as much noise as possible about it and help as many people as I possibly can!
I am reaching out, as I would like to help raise some money for an incredible cause, bone cancer research, as I want to give a little something back to those incredible people that give so much! I want to help spread awareness and help save people’s lives.
