Berkeley Against Sexual Harassment

We are BHS Stop Harassing. We are Berkeley High School students and adult advisors working to change the culture at BHS around sexual harassment and violence. We want BHS to be a model of a high school where all students feel safe and respected.
Our work is urgent because this is a pressing problem at BHS where support is minimal and there is very limited access to services for victims of harassment; and virtually no training for school staff or students on the issue. We seek to engage school and district administration decision makers to immediately address shortcomings in the school environment that create an unsafe learning environment and impede student success.
This GoFundMe appeal is to help us get cool T-shirts, buttons and pins to give away during a mass teach-in planned for late November and early December. We will have sessions with national experts to discuss how sexual harassment issues are handled today at BHS and how this can be improved, with practical next steps on how to move the campaign forward. Participants will also be asked to consider signing a petition calling for immediate and progressive improvements in the school’s approach to addressing sexual harassment, compliant with Title IX law. So they can show continued support, students will be offered specialty T-shirts or buttons/pins that include a supportive message and a hashtag for further interaction on the topic via social media.
