It Takes A Village

Hi, we are Sue & Tim’s Family. Sue and Tim have started the adoption journey and this go fund me will help offset the large financial cost to adopt a child.

Here is their Story:
Our dream was to parent a child, to fill our house with love and chaos. The road to this dream has been a winding, uphill battle. One we never thought we would face.
Tim and I met at the end of 2011. We both knew quickly this was something special. We dated for three years, moved in together and started planning our future. In those conversations, children were always our focus. We married in 2017 and were eager to start our family. I have wanted kids as long as I can remember, starting to babysit infants at 13 years old. I have always wanted a house full of kids and dogs!
Four months after our wedding, I had an annual doctors appt where we started to discuss pregnancy and fertility issues. I was recently diagnosed with thyroid issues and was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrom (PCOS) since I was 16 years old. Those diagnoses make it more difficult to become pregnant. We were referred to an infertility specialist given those diagnoses and my age (32). Our first infertility physician moved their practice out of the area. Our second physician, unfortunately, waited about a year before advising they would not proceed with IVF on overweight patients. A devastating waste of time and money. While we were upset, we knew we were meant to parent a child.
That’s when things all changed. A friend told us about CNY fertility. They are all inclusive; they don’t discriminate on age, weight or financial situation. The nurses and doctors are amazing. You feel like part of the family.
Over the past 2 years we underwent countless procedures; egg retrievals, transfers surgeries and medication regimens to try to conceive. We became pregnant in August of 2022, but shortly after we miscarried. My doctor suggested exploratory surgery to check my uterus and surrounding areas. I underwent the procedure, and after 2 months letting my uterus recover, we went through another round of IVF. In January 2023 we became pregnant again and miscarried shortly after. The joy of knowing you are pregnant, the feeling of peace that comes over you is indescribable. So is the heartache you feel when you know your dream is crushed, again. While this was painful, we did not give up. We knew we were meant to parent a child.
After regrouping our doctors suggested having our embryos tested. Unfortunately, none of our eggs were viable. This meant that despite the medications, surgeries and rounds of IVF, it was unlikely that we would ever have a viable pregnancy. The emotions you go through after finding out that you truly can’t bear your own child, well, it’s inexplainable. Our hearts were crushed in a way we never imagined. We decided pregnancy was not a viable path to parenthood after reflecting on the physical, emotional, and financial toll we experienced.
We had to have hard conversations.
Fostering? Adoption? No children? I truly never thought we would be at this point. But we couldn’t just sit and cry. We pivoted. We know we are meant to parent a child. We decided to explore adoption. And oh boy, we did not expect the wait time and cost! We spoke with an adoption lawyer and an adoption agency and learned we would need between $27 and $50 thousand dollars to adopt. It could also take 2 to 3 years to match. Another hurdle for us. Tim and I work extremely hard to pay off our IVF debt so we can start the adoption process. We work extra hours, second jobs and I recently started my own small business making homemade crafts and décor to help fund our dream. We know we are meant to parent a child!
