Brighton Day Care Center

Hi, my name is Katie.

I arrived in Tanzania two weeks ago(I’m here for 6 weeks in total) and started volunteering at Brighton Day Care Center a small school/daycare located in Arusha which offers education and care to children from underprivileged families. In the school there are 110 children aged 10 months to 6 years old. This includes orphans, children from single-parent households and those from the poorest of families. Brighton Daycare Center, established in 2019, is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential care and education to vulnerable children in Tanzania. Their mission is to create a safe and nurturing environment where children can thrive, develop their full potential, and overcome the challenges they face. The center offers daycare, meals, and educational programs tailored to the needs of young children. They have already successfully helped countless children overcome adversity and develop essential life skills. However they face several challenges to provide the highest quality care:

• Financial Constraints: Rising costs for rent, salaries, food, supplies, and essential services have put a strain on their resources.

• Infrastructure Needs: They lack adequate facilities for primary education and technical training, limiting their ability to expand their programs.

Brighton Day Care is in need of improvements, including Electricity, lamps, uniforms, television for the babies, mattresses, new learning materials, nutritious meals and recreational facilities.

No amount is too small, and every contribution brings us one step closer to our goal.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of these children and their families, giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential and to live a happier life.
