Beyond the Flames .....Supporting Denare Beach

What started out as a dream trip to visit our son Zhane and our close friends Tasha and Jamie in the beautiful village of Denare Beach, Canada, turned into a nightmare we’ll never forget.

Just days into our visit, wildfires began to spiral out of control. Before the mandatory evacuation order came, we spent some time volunteering at the local fire base — cooking food for the incredible firefighters and pilots working around the clock to protect the community.

But things escalated quickly. Within hours of receiving the emergency alert, we had to evacuate — driving for hours to get to safety. And then, the devastating news came: large parts of the village had been destroyed by fire.

Zhane’s home — the place he’s built a life in over the past year — is gone. Everything he owned reduced to ash. He escaped with only a small bag of clothes.

Our amazing friends Tasha and Jamie, and their two children, not only lost their home, but their business too, and all of their belongings. And they’re not alone. Many families in this wonderful community are now left with nothing.

This fundraiser is to help support, Zhane, Tasha, Jamie and anyone else we can.

You might wonder — why donate to a small village in a country thousands of miles from the UK?

Because compassion doesn’t have borders. Because these are real people, good people, who opened their homes and hearts to us — and now need help. Because if something like this happened in your hometown, you’d hope someone, somewhere, would care enough to step in.
