Beyond Borders: Building Brighter Futures in Tanzania

Hi, my name is Camilla, and I’m the founder of Beyond Borders, a grassroots educational project that I kickstarted with the support of seed funding from the Wells Cathedral School Horizon Award. This July, my team and I will be travelling to Songea, Tanzania, to work with over 100 children and young adults aged 3-8 at Nyerere Kindergarten and Herdis Training Centre, and I’m asking for your help to make a lasting impact.
Our aim is simple but deeply important: to bring holistic, joyful, and accessible education to children in rural Tanzania; children who, despite their incredible spirit and potential, lack many of the basic resources most of us take for granted.
Every euro raised will go directly to the children and their schools, helping to fund:
- School tuition so children can access education
- Daily essentials like shoes and clothing
- Rebuilding efforts for parts of the school infrastructure
- Dreams of running water (a long-term but essential goal)
- Sleeping mats and beds for the youngest children
- Shelving, books, and learning materials
- Colouring pencils and creative supplies
- Ingredients for school meals to ensure children are nourished while they learn
- Teacher salaries to support the adults guiding their learning journey

In Songea, even a small amount of money stretches incredibly far, and your donation (no matter how small) will have a direct, tangible impact on the lives of these children.
While in Tanzania for two weeks, our team will work closely with the children through a tailored curriculum that includes:
- Emotional education through storytelling, games, and expressive arts
- Music and art classes to spark creativity and self-expression
- Teaching languages: English, French, Italian, Swahili
- Partnering with local vocational schools to craft educational toys
- Sports and outdoor activities to promote teamwork and physical well-being
- A geography field trip exploring the savannah, connecting children to their land and environment
