It is with heavy hearts that we turn to our community for support during this difficult time. My name is Annette Dunkley and our beloved sister, Beverly has suddenly passed away due to a stress-induced stroke and a fatal brain aneurysm, triggered after her home was flooded during Hurricane Melissa. The majority of my family lives in Montego Bay, St. James, one of the areas hit extremely hard by the hurricane. Currently, none of my relatives on that side of the island have access to water, electricity, or internet, which has made communication and recovery extremely difficult as well.
We are asking our friends and family for support during this difficult time through community funding that will help cover the burial expenses for our sister, Beverly. She was a kind, compassionate soul whose presence touched our entire family, and she will be dearly missed. While there are other family members in need of support from the damages caused by the hurricane, we are taking things one day at a time and focusing on honoring Beverly’s memory first.
We will be transparent every step of the way regarding the usage of your support. This GoFundMe Support Fund is only going towards our family in Montego Bay and the Celebration of Life for our sister.
If the expenses are covered for that, we will be allocating additional funds to providing more resources to the family members who have no light, water or electricity.
This Support Fund was set up by my son, Acquille Dunkley, who is managing the logistics on our behalf. He lives in Los Angeles which is why that location is included on this GoFundMe. The funeral takes place in Jamaica, where majority of my family lives. If there are any questions or concerns, please reach out to him through GoFundMe.
From our family: Inez, Dorett, Hyacinth, Annette, Pansy, Vincent, Sonia, Yuane, Kay-Marie and Alethia, we can't thank you enough for your support during this extremely difficult times.
Please also send prayers for our mother, Inez who is currently in the hospital with severe diabetic conditions.
- Annette Dunkley
Update ***
We increased the goal limit due to multiple requests from organizations wanting to donate towards the funeral, as well as the hurricane relief efforts for our family in general.
