Good afternoon all I wish I didn't have to write this and circumstances were different with Bevs health although none of us like to write Bev off these are the facts that the oncology doctors have given us with Bevs diagnosis. Most people that know us know that for the last 16 months Bev has fought like an absolute warrior to overcome breast cancer going through chemo radiotherapy and a mastectomy in an unstoppable fashion. Just as she finished the last Her2 treatment and was looking forward to the future with her beautiful children grandchildren family & myself. Bev started to get debilitating migraines either side of the last treatment or so we thought initially... these caused her to be in a lot of pain and violently sick due to the blurred vision the oncology doctors also thought they were cluster migraines due to the sporadic way they were occurring, after getting nowhere with migraine tablets on and off for 8 weeks and eliminating b12 and an eye test at the opticians she was prescribed steroids which relieved the pain instantly and was given an appointment for a MR scan.
The results have left us all devastated as they have shown metastatic lesions on the brain caused by the primary tumour breaking away through the blood cells or lymphnodes. As I said before none of us like to write Bev off I've been by her side right through the treatments before covid no longer allowed or outside the hospital and have seen the fight she has put in throughout and its been remarkable. The Stark reality of it all though is the Doctors have given Bev a 12 month life expectancy she is already 7 sessions in on radiotherapy to the brain and there are 3 left and as usual she soldiers on and continues to be practical even to the point of ringing the funeral directors and getting the house in order for the kids. The aim of the radiotherapy received is to try and stop the growth and spread and if possible shrink it down so she can feel well for longer. After this we meet up with oncology again to discuss further Her2 treatment for the forseeable.
These are the facts and reality of it all 12 months isn't a very long time and being ill doesn't pay the bills we can't let this consume any of us at present because things will get much tougher towards the end. once radiotherapy is out of the way we can all look towards spending as much quality time with Bev as possible and making memories. This doesn't stop the worries by Bev that her kids will have to fend for themselves and how much she will miss out on birthdays Christmas and watching the grandchildren grow up or go on to get married anyone that knows Bev knows her kids are her life and is the epitome of what a mother should be. It's hard enough losing a parent not just emotionally and mentally but as the main breadwinner in the house it will also be a big financial loss to the kids. I have set up this fundraiser to ease the stress and worry for Bev so she can enjoy her time with her children friends and family over the next 12 months or however long she is capable. In return for sponsorship I am going to take on a mountain challenge around the end of May 10 peaks ⛰️ in 24 hours 7 of these are in the top ten highest peaks in the lake district including the highest mountain in England scafell pike I hope to do it much faster than 24 hours but by hook or by crook it will be done they are great kids and an absolute credit to Bev and I will always be here for all of you anytime you need me.
I will tackle Red Pike, Steeple, Pillar Kirk Fell, Great Gable,  Great End, Ill Crag, Broad Crag, Scafell Pike, & lastly Scafell
all proceeds raised will go to Bevs children to give them a headstart on rent and household expenses in a time which will be considerably difficult enough.
Thankyou for reading this story we know these are difficult times but any donation would be greatly received.
Yours sincerely Bev and Rob
