We are raising funds to bring inspirational art, storytelling, and music to Walton-on-the-Naze, once more, showcasing our impressive local talent.
After the roaring success of the first Walton Arts Festival in 2024, ‘Between the Tides’ will return this September for another jam-packed weekend., opening on Friday 18th September and running through to Sunday 20th.
Planned events and activities will again be led by the tides of the Autumn Equinox. Against a backdrop of beach activities, a celebration of coastal community and creativity across Walton-on-the-Naze will ensue, involving local businesses, venues, Churches, community groups and organisations, artists, performers, schools from Walton, and the surrounding areas, for a spirited last of the summer hurrah!
Inspired by Walton’s heritage of September folk festivals, upholding its infamous reputation for being ‘Britain’s friendliest seaside resort’, the festival hopes to showcase and offer a vibrant mix of opportunities and activities for residents and visitors of all ages, to connect, create, and enjoy our wonderful coastal town in all its equinox glory.
Activities include:
- Welcoming arrivals from a specially arranged ‘Old School Disco Train’, from Colchester North to Walton-on-the-Naze, organised by the Essex and South Suffolk Rail Partnerships.
- Live music around the town on the Friday evening.
- Lisa Strong’s ‘Feel Good Community Choir’ will be holding a Walton Choir Showcase on Sunday 20th September at All Saints Parish Church. Followed up by a choir festival in October too!
- Local eco-artist Jane Stewart will be bringing back the Dolphin Derby, where adults and children will once again be racing their home-made, sea-inspired costumes across the sand at low tide.
- Storytelling events.

The festival is currently entirely volunteer led. Funds will help us raise infrastructure, insurance costs, materials etc and, ideally, give our artists something in return. The more money we can raise, the more vibrancy, joy, and unique experiences, we can bring to the community, supporting health and happiness.
