Hi everyone!

My name is Bethany McK and I am 16 years old. I am so excited to share that I have been given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel to Cambodia in 2027 with Camps International along with a small team of pupils from school. This is more than just a trip; it is a 4-week expedition focused on making a real difference in rural communities in Cambodia.

Cambodia is a beautiful country with a rich history, but many rural areas still face immense challenges. During my time there, I will be living in traditional longhouses and working alongside local people on vital projects. These will include helping to build classrooms, toilets, and clean water wells to improve local health and education. We will help with reforestation efforts by planting native saplings and developing jungle gardens to combat food shortages.

This journey is about stepping out of my comfort zone and giving back to the global community. I’m looking forward to learning about Cambodian culture, from the ancient temples of Angkor Wat to its modern history in Phnom Penh, while developing life skills like teamwork and resilience.

How does your donation help?

The total cost of this expedition is a substantial amount which covers my flights, travel insurance, meals, accommodation and much more with some of the money also going towards local community projects, improving living standards & welfare and protecting wildlife which i will be involved in.
