Bertie’s Rehabilitation - 2 Liam’s Tackle 24 Peaks

Donation protected
Myself and Liam (yes another one!) are taking on the 24 Peaks Challenge in September this year to help raise money for my brother-in-law.

We’ll be trekking for 12 hours each day, covering around 28 miles over 2 days, with around 12,500ft of total ascent, the 24 Peaks Challenge is one of the UK’s most demanding adventures.

Bertie’s Story:
As many people are aware Bertie (Rob) was in an accident whilst on a family holiday in June last year. He now has to live with a spinal cord injury and is paralysed from the chest down. The last year has been difficult primarily from Bertie’s perspective but also for us as a family and has included a 10-hour surgery, an air ambulance, three hospitals and months of intensive rehab. We are now approaching Bertie’s discharge date and in support and preparation of what will be his new way of life, we are looking to raise some money for adaptions and vital equipment. Being a quadriplegic, Bertie has limited function of his hands, making everyday tasks a challenge.
Bertie’s personal savings have been swallowed by the cost of his new accommodation and unfortunately equipment that will make his life a lot easier does not come cheap. For example a motorised attachment for his wheelchair costs around £4,500 and an FES bike which stimulates the muscles in his legs starts from £13,000.

We appreciate any donation no matter how small or just sharing this page.
