Bertie has been selected as a member of the Oxfordshire Scout Jamboree Unit (official charity number 291693), to represent British Scouting at the World Scout Jamboree taking place in Poland, summer 2027. Every Scout in the Unit undertakes to work hard over the coming months to each fundraise £3,500 for the central pot.

The World Scout Jamboree is a worldwide scouting event that takes place once every 4 years, for around 30,000 young people from across the globe. It is an international adventure and celebration of cooperation and peace.

You may be thinking this seems an awful lot of money to go camping in Poland (especially as we're also paying £1K in deposits!) - but some of the funds raised by the Oxfordshire Scout Jamboree Unit are used to support scouts from developing countries in attending the Jamboree. Without support from the developed world these young people would never be able to attend an event like this.

You may be aware that Bertie is also going to a smaller jamboree in Iceland in 2026 (his first ever trip abroad!) for which we're not really fundraising as we have to put all our efforts into the huge WSJ project - but this jamboree and the sponsored expeditions, volunteering and other hard work he's undertaking this year as part of his fundraising are testament to Bertie's passion for Scouting and its values.
