Support Berlin Lingua Hub: Connect Through Language Learning

Hello, wonderful supporters!

My name is Nacho (they, them), and I am a pedagogics student from Chile living in Berlin, passionate about languages and culture. I have always loved bringing people together and helping through language. For over a year, I have been running Berlin Lingua Hub, unique spaces where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together to practice new languages, share cultures, and build friendships. My ultimate goal is to democratize language learning and make it accessible to everyone.

Currently, the Sprachcafes take place in Berlin at Denizen Space. Given that we are in Berlin, one of our main aims is to give people the opportunity to practice and learn German, fostering integration and community building in this vibrant city. Sprachcafés occur every two weeks and typically have around 30 participants. Participants are separated into small groups based on their language proficiency levels, from beginning to intermediate up to advance level time to time

Why Sprachcafes should happen

Creating free, informal, and safe spaces for language learning, such as Sprachcafés, is crucial. These environments encourage practice, reduce anxiety, promote natural interaction, increase motivation, foster cultural exchange, and provide peer support. They offer flexibility, accessibility, and confidence-building opportunities, enhancing the overall learning experience and making it enjoyable and effective.

Why informal learning is so important when learning a language

Informal learning is crucial for language acquisition because it offers real-life context, natural acquisition, flexibility, reduced pressure, increased engagement, social interaction, practical application, cultural immersion, lifelong learning, and peer learning. Spaces like Sprachcafés exemplify these benefits by providing relaxed, social environments where learners can practice and improve their language skills naturally and enjoyably.

Why I Need Your Support

To keep my Sprachcafes running, I need financial support for materials, resources, marketing, and advertising. So far, I have been covering these costs out of my own pocket. With your help, I aim to raise €1500 to cover the ongoing costs and ensure the sustainability of this project for the next year. In the future, I would also like to provide support for volunteers who help make these Sprachcafes possible.

Your Donations Will Be Used For:

Materials and Resources: €200 per month for books, learning materials, and printing costs for handouts.

Marketing and Advertising: €100 per month for flyers, posters, and online advertising.
