Berlin Ballroom Pier: Empowering BIPOC Trans & Queer Youth

Berlin Ballroom Pier is a collective made up of BIPOC trans and queer people dedicated to building a space of empowerment, community, and growth within the Berlin Ballroom scene. Our mission is straightforward: to uplift and support BIPOC trans youth and young adults (ages 14–27) by offering safer spaces where they can learn, create, and thrive. We host four regular open ballroom sessions, some of which are specifically focused on Black youth and trans youth, ensuring an inclusive and safe environment for self-expression.

So far, we’ve organized over 100 workshops, covering everything from ballroom categories to political education, empowerment, transformative justice, sexual health, and much more. But we’re not stopping there. To grow further, build lasting structures, and make our vision a reality for the next generation, we need your support.

Our Goal: 15.000 €

These funds will help us cover some essential costs and expand our reach. Specifically, we’ll use the money to:

Legal and Organizational Foundation: We need legal advice, notary services, and assistance to formalize our nonprofit association (Vereinsgründung). This will help us solidify the foundation of our work and ensure we can keep going for the long haul.

Workshops and Programming: We want to offer even more workshops, especially when international talent comes to town. These sessions are crucial for providing our community with valuable skills and opportunities to grow, learn, and connect.

Fair Compensation for Our Team: At the moment, not all of our team members are paid, even though they pour countless hours of hard work and passion into what we do. Your support will help us honor their efforts from time to time and create a more sustainable model for our collective to keep moving forward.

Branding and Outreach: We’ll use some of the funds to develop a professional logo, and „ brand identity“. This will help us expand our reach, raise awareness, and build a strong, visible presence in the Berlin arts and cultural scene.

Beta Ball Events: Our upcoming Beta Balls are a celebration of the incredible talents within our community. Your donation will help cover the DJ fees, video recording, and post-production costs, ensuring we can capture and share the beauty and energy of this event with the world.

We’re deeply grateful for the support we’ve received from our local community so far. But to make this project sustainable and impactful in the long term, we’re now also reaching out to larger institutions, brands, philanthropists, and allies of BIPOC, queer, and trans people. This is a chance to invest in a transformative space that stands at the intersection of art, culture, and social justice.
