Help Matthew and Jason pay for their surrogacy!

Hi! My name is Sherice, and I started this fundraiser on behalf of my brother, Matthew, and his husband, Jason. Matthew and Jason are pursuing surrogacy for their second child after experiencing a loss and would love the help of friends and family on this

journey.

As some of you may know, Matthew and Jason began the adoption process for their son, Sebastian, in 2020. Matthew and Jason raised Sebastian from the moment of birth for eight and a half months. They became extremely close with Sebastian’s mother, Kelsey, and her family. Raising Sebastian was the happiest time in their life. Monthly visits (and often more), holidays, birthdays, and family vacations are still spent together. The connection between the two families is strong, with Sebastian at the center.

Due to unforeseen and extremely unusual circumstances during the adoption process, Matthew and Jason lost the legal fight to finalize the adoption of Sebastian. Together with Kelsey, they made the difficult decision for Sebastian to return to Kelsey’s care to ensure he would be raised with love and safety. This was not the future for Sebastian that Kelsey, Matthew, and Jason had worked so hard to ensure, but Kelsey is the best mother, and Matthew and Jason are so thankful for her.

The loss of Sebastian has been devastating for Jason and Matthew but ensuring his well-being is paramount. Through this difficult and heart-breaking process, they formed a loving, supportive, and unique family with Kelsey. When Jason and Matthew struggled to find a new path to become parents again, Kelsey offered the generous gift of carrying the child herself. Through much discussion and soul searching, they have concluded that putting their time, energy, and resources into the family they have already created was the best option for them. What they have is extremely special, and they would like to strengthen their family through another child who shares parentage on both sides. A sibling to Sebastian, a child to Matthew and Jason and Kelsey.

The money raised through this fundraiser will help to cover the costs associated with the surrogacy (dr. visits, IUI treatments, lawyers’ fees, travel, etc.). As many families who require fertility assistance or who have been through the process of adoption know, it is an extremely costly practice. Jason and Matthew had saved for years to be able to have a child through adoption. Pivoting now to surrogacy has become a financial stress, and any gift you would bestow would be extremely appreciated.
