Mackenzie’s life began to change when Benny entered her world, a dog currently in training to become her service dog.
Before Benny, Mackenzie struggled with everyday tasks and slowly withdrew from everyday life. When asked what she felt might help, her answer was simple: a service dog.
When Benny came home, the impact was immediate. With him by her side, Mackenzie began living again; leaving the house, engaging with others, and rebuilding confidence. Even while still in training, Benny has already become a source of stability, independence, and hope.
That life-changing experience is why PAWS Foundation of the Lehigh Valley, INC. was created.
Properly trained service dogs are expensive, and for many individuals and families, the cost alone makes this support impossible to access. In Mackenzie’s case, it took more than a year to find help, as no local resources were available.
This journey revealed a significant gap for families in the Lehigh Valley.
PAWS Foundation of the Lehigh Valley, INC. is proud to be the first nonprofit in our area created to help close this gap. Our mission is rooted in a simple belief:
Service dogs are a lifeline, not a luxury, and life-changing support should not depend on someone’s financial situation.
Through this launch campaign, PAWS Foundation of the Lehigh Valley, INC. will help:
• Fund a fully trained service dog
• Support professional service dog training
• Provide emergency veterinary care for dogs actively in service
We call this campaign “Benny’s Pennies,” a reminder that small acts of generosity can change a life. This kickoff campaign also supports the startup costs associated with building a local nonprofit so families no longer have to navigate this journey alone.
Because everyone deserves the chance to find their Benny — and reclaim hope, confidence, and independence.
