Bennett Ridge Fire Safety
Donation protected
Our community, Bennett Ridge, was greatly affected by the Nuns Fire of October 2017. One of our neighbors perished. Out of the 130 homes, 95 were completely destroyed, and all surviving homes and properties sustained damage. We are committed to mitigating the risks of another devastating wildfire.
To this end, we have now met the requirements and are recognized as a national Firewise USA Community. We have also qualified for a PG&E Fuel Mitigation Grant to help to clear flammable vegetation along lower Old Bennett Ridge Road and in the Rollo meadow. We are seeking additional grants and donations from the community to expand our fuel reduction projects, to conduct workshops on "home hardening" and defensible space, and to evaluate and implement other measures to reduce community-wide risk.
In the short term, your contributions will help us start the fuel clearing process while we wait for the grant funds to be processed by PG&E. They will also help us expand the scope of work. In the long run, your contributions will help Bennett Ridge become a beautiful, bio-diverse, and fire-adapted community.
Please support this effort!
We have formed a new entity, Bennett Ridge Fire Safety Org, and have applied to the IRS to be designated a 501c3. We expect to receive this designation within the next 90 days. Once we receive this designation, your contributions will be tax-deductible, even if they were made before we receive notification from the IRS. We will keep you informed of the IRS process.
