Benefit to Recoup from a Scammer

Donation protected
Hi I’m trying to help my dear sweet friend Kathy after a very serious scam. She would never ask on her own for this help yet she’s always the first to offer the shirt off her back for even a stranger so I’m asking for her. If God lays it on your heart to read this and you’re able to help, anything is appreciated including your prayers as those are most powerful.
On December 7,2022 Kathy received a phone call at Port Java from a man claiming to be a “Deputy from the Brevard County Jail on Camp Road”. This person went one to claim one of Kathy’s employees was in an accident and arrested and would be spending Christmas in jail if Kathy wouldn’t pay the bail of $3,000. He proceeded to tell Kathy that the arrested employee was scared and ashamed to ask anyone else but only Kathy as Kathy wouldn’t judge her.”
Kathy kept questioning this caller and he just knew everything about her and I mean everything. He knew addresses, names of her children just everything. This scammer was very devilishly clever.
Kathy kept telling this “Deputy” she didn’t have that kind of money. She finally told him she could only pay it from her payroll for her employee’s to which the Deputy replied he verified that the so called arrested employee would be able to pay her the $3,000 after Kathy picked her up from the prison. The Deputy went on to tell Kathy what a big heart she had while then interrupting the call to say “take her to be processed”. Kathy’s heart was in her throat over the thought of this employee being in jail so she sent this money electronically and was told she would receive an emailed receipt from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Kathy proceeded to quickly drive to the jail to pick this employee up. When arriving at the jail they knew nothing of this arrest. No such person was ever arrested!! There was no emailed receipt. It was then Kathy knew she’d been scammed!! Now she was out payroll money and felt so many feelings; anger, desperation and even foolish to have believed the lies of this scam. Kathy cried the whole way home and filed a report with BCSO. There was no way to get the money back. Kathy’s sister did not want the employees affected by this evil act so she took some money meant for something else and lent her money to cover payroll.
If you are able to help Kathy to repay this money it is so appreciated beyond words. Please only help however you are able. Times are hard especially at the holidays but I think we can all come together to replace what was meant for evil with good. Please share this experience with your friends and family to raise awareness of these scams happening.
