Ben Morea Full Circle: Planning the Next Chapter

Donation protected
Ben Morea is releasing a new book, “Full Circle: A Life in Rebellion.” Published by Detritus Books, Full Circle is 220 pages of an in-depth interview with the 1000 Voices Collective, edited by Ariel Uesseler. This book was a labor of love by many, and is a priceless contribution to our lineage of political work. In addition to incisive commentary on his activities with Black Mask and UATW/MF in the late 1960s, “Full Circle” also features the first detailed history of Ben’s upbringing in New York as well as his time in the wilderness after fleeing state repression.

Ben’s stories and experiences from across the span of life are rich with meaning for our current moment politically, spiritually, and strategically. As a community, we hope to demonstrate our capacity to care for an elder that has given us so much. Ben has been active in the New York City counter-culture since he was a teenager, more than six decades ago. He turns 84 this year.

As such, we are gratefully accepting donations during this time to cover rent, moving, and travel expenses, allowing Ben to be present for meetings, discussions, reading groups, and lectures inspired by the release of “Full Circle” across the country. Many of us have had the opportunity to experience a vibrant and ongoing dialogue with Ben since his return to New York. This dialogue with younger generations has been deeply enriching for both Ben and those of us who have spent time with him. We hope to continue extending that experience to many others in the years to come.

In further support of living expenses, Ben is selling his inventory of art, books, antiques, housewares and archival materials. His own paintings will also be available for sale. An open house will be held on May 24-25 from 11am-5pm, Ben’s goods are also viewable by appointment.

Proceeds from both sales and donations will support Ben to continue to live in New York, and to be present for the discussions and inspiration his story provides.
