Belvoir Lodge - making opportunities for play.

Hi, we are some of the residents of Belvoir Lodge and we would like your help to make our garden a more accessible space for us to enjoy throughout the year.

Belvoir Lodge is a care home in Nottingham for young adults with additional needs, many with cerebral palsy. Throughout Covid, we used the garden the best we couldbut this new garden would give us so much more. With sensory area's, quiet area's, even a roundabout and a larger area to socialise with family and friends.

Working with the amazing Lush Garden Design and Castle Surveys who have redesigned and surveyed the outdoor space to make it accessible for these incredible residents. Anna from Lush Garden Design looked to provide more inspirational, tactile, scented, sensory areas in the garden to give the residents more opportunities for play and outdoor experiences. Her design brings accessibility and colour to the garden; we and the residents think it is fantastic and are excited to bring it to life as soon as possible. Elisha, pictured in the middle, is especially excited about the roundabout!

With the help of friends and families we hope to bring this design to fruition. The redesign of the garden layout means improving gradients on pathways to make the change in levels wheelchair friendly, then we can access all the new things the garden project will bring. A sensory room; an accessible roundabout for fun; all weather surfacing; scented and tactile areas; tactile water features; colourful planting and features bringing the whole area a new lease of life.
