On Sep 5-6 a group of us are cycling up mountains in Kerry to raise money in aid of BELVEDERE YOUTH CLUB (Charity number: 20005122) and I'm trying to reach a modest target of €1,000.

This youth club is a genuine refuge for a lot of kids in NE Inner City Dublin. In this area, young people are exposed to violence, drug and alcohol misuse and open dealing. Social exclusion and unemployment levels are high. Anti-social behaviour and missing school become common in this environment and the club tries to help to counter this as a positive and safe place.

It was founded over a 100 ago and is the only organisation offering services to 7 - 10 year olds, and the leading organisation delivering to members aged between 10 and 20 year olds in this area. As a permanent fixture in the community, BYC has been trusted by the local families for generations as a positive, non-patronising and practical safe space that the locals feel they own.
