Ruth Haro, our beloved Adaptive PE teacher in Los Angeles, has been displaced by the Eaton fire. Her Altadena home still stands but the windows have all blown out and it is unknown how long it will be before she can return - it could be many, many months.
For 23 years, Ms Haro has gone above and beyond for ALL of her students across many LAUSD schools. Working with special needs populations, she is a real live angel. Our principal even told us that a passion of Ms Haro’s is to take her students to the Special Olympics every year.
A native of Peru, she moved to Los Angeles over 20 years ago and has proven herself a vital part of so many families of children of all abilities, She lives with and helps take care of her sister and two adult nieces, along with a medium sized dog and two cats. It is our hope to alleviate the stress of being displaced indefinitely.
As a mother and a proud member of a wonderfully helpful community, I can’t imagine going through this. Ms Haro works at many schools, one of them being Micheltorena Elementary, where all three of my son’s attend. My only intent is to help Ms Haro raise this money to help take care of her family in a time of need. Please consider donating to a wonderful human who has given so much to our most precious students and communities.
