Belltown Livability: Community Action

**Photo from February 2021 Project Proposal**

A group of volunteers has retained Law Firm Bricklin & Newman  to address the proposed building height and mass at 2616 Western Ave - Project 3036043-LU

Developers from California are looking to build a luxury apartment building to 180ft in a neighborhood where the limit is 145ft.

There is a real opportunity to block the master use permit from being issued for the purposed 180ft height. (Click here to learn more about the MUP)

Seattle Department of Construction & Inspections (SDCI) has recently completed its design review and along the way, many of you have spoken up, voiced your opinion on various aspects of this project, and added comments to the public log.

We initially thought we could impact the building design at the SDCI review meetings, however have learned that those meetings were not the correct forum for this input. The design meetings focus is on architectural features, not city code or height/mass.

Building height and mass must be compliant with city code and is reviewed in this next phase – the master permitting phase.  This current permitting stage is now the time to act.

As purposed, the building does not appear to be compliant with the city code. Our attorney believes this non-compliance with respect to height and mass to lot size, gives us grounds for legal action.

We are looking for you to join the cause; to protect your skyline, your neighborhood, and your community character.

Please help fund the legal defense.

This account will go 100% to the law firm's retainer. We do not know how long this fight will last, but hours will be closely monitored and any unused funds will be returned to donors.

This effort is being run by community volunteers.

We are donating time and resources in order to protect the integrity and livability of our neighborhood and hope that you will help.

Please join the effort and add your name to the list of those willing to invest in protecting the character and beauty of this unique neighborhood.

You can also join the discussion here as we will post regular updates.
