Bell’s Drive In Faces Unexpected Loss

The small town of Henderson, Tn woke this morning to heartbreaking news. Bell’s Drive In, a family owned restaurant that has been a cherished place for families to make memories since 1954, has been destroyed in an overnight fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but the community is saddened that our beloved Bell’s is no longer here.

I am an employee at Bell’s Drive In, and just hours before getting up to start my morning shift, I hear the devastating news about my job, that has now become my family.

Bell’s Drive In was not among other restaurants. We stood out for our familiar faces that, for 71 years, have been serving Chester County along with travelers from all over the country who stopped to get “The Best Burger This Side of Heaven”.

Most staff members like myself have worked at Bell’s for a few years, but Ms. Glenda has been taking care of most things Bell’s since 1963. She has dedicated nearly all of her time to her family’s restaurant that she started working for at the age of 16.

To understand our story fully, you would have to be part of it, but this is a heartbreak for every employee, every regular customer we serve daily, and childhood comers that always stop back by when passing through.

This page is to raise money for each employee that no longer has a job, but can’t afford to be without. We have just over a dozen employees. Each of us are at a loss for words that we suddenly can no longer go to work at a place we love, around people we cherish.

The goal is not necessarily $10,000, the goal is to bring a little ease to the dedicated workers that have lost a place that has become part of us.

We understand that everyone is going through a tough time right now with the tornados in our area, and anything else in life that you may have going on, but if Bell’s Drive In was ever a part of your life and you’re able to give, we couldn’t be more thankful! Let’s keep hope that Bell’s can be rebuilt.
