Bella's Bumbas

My name is Jeffrey Shorr and I am the father of Bella and one of the creators of Bella’s Bumbas. Bella was born with Spina Bifida, making walking and getting around a bit more difficult for her. I knew we had to do something and made Bella her first Bumba, a special wheelchair to help her feel more empowered. After seeing the joy the new-found freedom brought to Bella, our family teamed up and created Bella’s Bumbas. Bella’s Bumbas provides wheelchairs to young children who are affected by Spina Bifida or any type of mobility challenge.
These chairs are geared towards infants and young toddlers who otherwise may not have access to high dollar commercial chairs. We provide the chairs at no cost to the parents outside of shipping costs (flat rate in the US of $62.40). Each Bumba is handmade by Bella’s Great Uncle Marty with support from the rest of our family and local community.
Bella is an extraordinary child. Even with the challenges she has faced, she still is a bright light in everyone’s life she touches. She is now learning to walk as a result of her gaining mobility via the Bumba and tasting what freedom was like. We want to help provide this opportunity to children all over the globe.
One of the biggest challenges we’re facing now is delivering chairs to children in different parts of the world. The need for mobility is not limited to the US and we receive requests from all over the globe. Due to the high costs of shipping, we’re a bit limited when it comes to providing overseas support. Donations made to our GoFundMe campaign will go directly to the supplies needed to make the Bumbas and to help offset shipping costs for those outside of the US.
