Bella's Bumbas

$24,644 of $40,000 goal

Raised by 336 people in 11 months
We are building Bumbo wheelchairs for children affected by Spina Bifida or any child with mobility challenges that would benefit from the increased mobility of a Bella's Bumba. These chairs are geared towards infants and young toddlers whom otherwise may not have access to high dollar commercial chairs. We provide the chairs at no cost to the parents outside of shipping costs (flat rate in the US of $62.40). We do ship across the world on a case by case basis due to the high cost of shipping.

We are a New York non-profit registered as Bella's Bumbas LTD. Please visit our Facebook group or page for more information or to request a chair.

We’d thought we would share a video that our friends at handicappedpets.com put together. They supply ALL the latex free wheels we use on our Bella’s Bumbas chairs at no cost. They, along with all of you are the reason we can do what we do.

The video feature a Bella’s Bumbas recipient, Lorilae, along with a dog that also utilized a wheelchair. It’s a great reminder that we’re all in this together!

As we approach the holiday season, we know many of you would like to donate to a cause that touches you. We hope that we are that cause and will put 100% of the funds donated towards helping another child in the world become mobile.

We continue to receive requests almost daily for chairs, so the need is constant. We also receive stories almost daily of just how much of an impact our chairs have had on their child. Remember, we’re not only helping these children become mobile, but also creating a mental drive to be mobile on their own. The chairs help them mentally by provided a sense of freedom but they also spur physical development that can lead to being able to walk with a walker.

The need for continued support has never been greater, since we’ve moved away from Bumbo seats (kids outgrow them too fast) and onto the Summer Infant Seat; our costs have increased slightly per chair (Summer increased pricing by $9 in the last month). This increase along with the fact that the summer infant seats aren’t donated as used often, mixed with continued demand means that we are spending more per month building the chairs.

We’ve enjoyed spikes in donations when stories about Bella’s Bumbas are shared on news reports, but since the spotlight hasn’t shined upon us in a while, we’ve had limited donations. At this time we ask that if you can, please share us and our story so that people looking to donate can read about us.

Thank you,
Bella’s Bumbas (Jeffrey, Rebecca, Marty, and Bella)

Thank you all for the continued support, as the days and months continue to go by, we continue to receive a steady stream of requests for chairs (3-4 per day). We, at the moment, have enough stock to fulfill the requests; but our stock of summer infant seats is dwindling down.

The summer infant seats are now our preferred seat for our chairs because they "grow" with the children. We've also been looking at other seats that can be used for larger children. However, these seats aren't as common as Bumbo seats, so they have to be purchased by us. Because we are 100% funded by donations, we have a continuing need for additional monetary donations so that we may continue to purchase needed parts.

We'd like to challenge everyone to refer their friends, family members, and whomever else may help us continue our mission by donating to our cause. If we can get even 50 people to donate $10, that would give us enough money to buy seats for 20 additional chairs.

Thank you!
Jeffrey, Rebecca, Marty, and Bella
