Over the last few days, Belfast has witnessed deeply concerning scenes of unrest, racial tensions, and intimidation that have left many people feeling unsafe in their own communities. For some of our Black and Brown neighbours, minority ethnic communities, and families who have made Belfast their home, fear has become a daily reality.
Many are afraid to leave their homes, access essential supplies, or simply go about their lives.
Today, we want to send a different message.
Ruchira’s Supper Club supported by Still I Rise Stories are proud to stand alongside our minority communities, our Black and Brown neighbours, and anyone who feels vulnerable, isolated, or frightened during this difficult time.
Community is not defined by faith, belief, skin colour, nationality, or the languages we speak. Community is defined by how we come together, support one another, and show up for each other when it matters most.
The response from Belfast has been incredible.
In just 8 hours, more than 30 volunteers came together to deliver cooked meals, groceries, and essential food supplies to over 50 people who were unable to leave their homes safely. That's what Belfast is about. That's who we are.
To every volunteer who cooked meals, collected shopping lists, delivered groceries, donated food, and reached out to help - thank you.
But there is still more to do.
The funds raised through this campaign will go directly towards providing hot meals, grocery deliveries, and food essentials to individuals and families affected by the recent unrest. Your donation will help us purchase groceries, ingredients for cooked meals, and other everyday essentials for those who are currently unable or afraid to leave their homes.
Every contribution, no matter how small, will help ensure that nobody in our community goes without food or support during this difficult time.
Together, we can show that Belfast is stronger than division, stronger than hate, and stronger when we stand united.
Please donate if you can, share this page, and help us get food, groceries, and practical support to our neighbours when they need it most.
Because this is what community looks like.
A community fed by kindness is stronger than a community divided by fear. ❤️
