BEER SHOP x QUEER SHOP

It's Folkestone Pride on Saturday 26 July and we wanted to do something to raise money for this fabulous cause.

One of our lovely (and insistent) regulars had the idea of us changing our name for pride weekend to THE QUEER SHOP... and he kept mentioning it and mentioning it and mentioned it some more...

BUT SHOULD WE DO IT?!

Help us raise £250 for Folkestone Pride by 8pm on Wednesday 23 July and we'll change our name from THE BEER SHOP to THE QUEER SHOP from Thursday 24 to Monday 28 July!!!

This money will help: "support important events, workshops and outreach that raises awareness about equality and inclusion, helping to combat discrimination. Every donation strengthens the movement toward a more diverse, understanding, and united society."

At The Beer Shop everyone is welcome. We have always been a safe, welcoming, community focused place and now, more than ever this feels especially important. We love what Folkestone Pride does for the town and just want to do our little bit to support them.

FUNDRAISING UPDATE (10/07/25)

We have been absolutely blown away by by all your support - sharing the reel on Instagram and donating to the cause! We are delighted to say that we reached our £250 target in less than 24 hours!!! So we'll be changing our name to The Queer Shop for Folkestone Pride Weekend!

At the time of writing, the pot stands at just over £400 and so we got to thinking… what could we do to raise more money for this brilliant cause?

He is probably regretting this idea, but the lovely Ayden said that IF we could raise £1000, he would dress up in drag and do an hour behind the bar on Sun 27 Jul as PEGGY MITCHELL!!!

And to really sweeten the deal, the legend that is Beer Shop Thom (aka Beardy Record Box) said that he would join Ayden as… PAT BUTCHER!!!

So, what do you say? Do we want to see Peggy and Pat behind the Beer Shop Bar? If that’s a big ole yes then you know what to do!!!!
