Hi, I’m Betty J. Dudley, Lt Col (Ret), USAF, Founder and President of Bee’s Babies Essentials, Inc.—a faith-based nonprofit dedicated to empowering single parents and nurturing children through essential resources, life skills training, and education.

From National Reading Month… to a Year-Round Literacy Movement

This past March, during National Reading Month, we launched our Bee Reads Literacy Initiative—and the impact was truly inspiring.

Through community partnerships and local events, we:

• Hosted live children’s readings

• Engaged families with interactive literacy activities

• Placed books directly into the hands of children—many for the very first time.

To every supporter, donor, and partner—thank you. Because of you, we sparked joy, learning, and confidence in young readers across our community.

Now We’re Expanding: Bee Reads Across Prince George’s County. What started as a National Reading Month initiative is now growing into a countywide literacy effort.

Our goal is to bring Bee Reads into:

• Schools

• Community centers

• Libraries

• Summer programs and camps

At the heart of this initiative is our children’s book:

Getting to Know Bee: Bee Says… Let’s Grow in the Fruit of the Spirit

This engaging, faith-based story helps children learn values like:

• Love, Joy, and Peace

• Patience and Kindness

• Confidence and Self-Control

We are combining literacy & character development to help children grow both academically and emotionally. Many children in our communities do not have books at home. Without access to books, it becomes harder to:

• Develop strong reading skills

• Build confidence in learning

• Foster a lifelong love of reading

Bee Reads is changing that—one child, one book, one story at a time.

As we expand across Prince George’s County, we need your support to:

• Provide books for every child we reach

• Develop literacy activities and training materials

• Equip families with tools to continue reading at home

• $10 = 1 child receives a book

• $50 = 5 children receive books

• $100+ = Supports literacy events and learning materials
