We created this community because we feel it is important that fresh home grown food with no or few food miles is available and sustainable, if we can teach and inspire local people and children to take up the challenge of growing their own or helping us to grow food it would benefit them. We hope to show how it can be achieved on a small or larger scale. Encouraging people to consider food waste and how vital it is to eat good quality fresh, local vegetables. How to grow pesticide and chemical free and learn to garden with nature in mind. There are limited opportunities for children to experience outdoor, hands on learning in our community and there is much evidence to support that when children are exposed to their environment, where their food comes from and healthy eating they adopt good life long habits. This in support childhood healthy weight and instils a sense of connection with nature which in turn improves mental health and wellbeing. The more people that care about food and how it is sourced the more sustainable it will be, highlighting food waste and where your food comes from can only be a benefit. We do not get paid to do that, we are doing it for our community and to help people, that's why any small offer is really helpful. With the cost we will cover material expenses, bills for out farm and enough resources to keep it going.
