Becoming parents shouldn't cost so much

When Andrew was in fourth grade, his family moved to Jacksonville, Florida. Perhaps as a way to convince him that the coastal swamps of north Florida were better than the beaches of Fort Lauderdale, his mother took him to an “owl prowl” in Hannah Park to listen and look for these elusive nocturnal birds. Meanwhile, eight-hundred miles away in Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge, Tyler had partnered up with 65-year old Dottie to look for marsh birds along the Delaware river. If it seems odd to bird watch, colloquially known as “birding,” before the age of fifty, then weirder still is dressing as a bird for Halloween; Tyler, from ages seven to ten, went as a great blue heron, a ruby-throated hummingbird, a bald eagle, and again as great blue heron. In January of his third year at Phillips Exeter Academy, Tyler wrote, and read to the school, a personal essay where he admitted his childhood costume choices. After hearing the speech, Andrew said to Tyler “I like birds, too.”In late May of that same year, they woke up at 4:30 am to hike Franconia Ridge, their first New Hampshire 4000-footer together. On the summit, a photographer took this candid image (below), the first picture of the couple. Over five years, they’ve hiked hundreds of miles in the White Mountains, mostly leaving Exeter before dawn in order to return for an afternoon nap. Their paths, which started in bird sanctuaries along the East Coast, eventually led to  their discovery of each other. As teachers, Tyler and Andrew have devoted their lives to empower, educate and inspire our youth. They model selflessness, loyalty and hope, and their presence on campus as individuals and as a couple inspire both students and colleagues to live fulfilling, happy and genuine lives.  As Uncles, they nurture, cultivate and love their niece, my daughter.I am Tyler's twin sister, and with some encouraging (mixed in with begging), Tyler and Andrew have agreed to allow me to post this page. My hope for this page is to help these two Uncles become parents. Whereas the only price I had to pay were trips to the Doctor's office and eventually the hospital for the birth of our daughter, the price for a surrogate, for egg donations, for lawyers is steep:--It will be about $65,000 for a surrogate alone. (!!!!!)-- a little over $40,000 for the egg donation and harvesting of the eggs. --estimated $5,000 for medical treatments and screening. --estimated $10,000-$15,000 legal fees.Love is love and this world needs good parents to raise moral, good children. Perhaps it is too presumptuous of me to say that the world would benefit from these two men starting a family, so I'll start with their community: a widespread network of people all over the country whom have been touched by this couple. Please consider helping them achieve their dream of creating a family. We are grateful for any and all support for this cause! Please feel free to share with anyone who would be inspired or moved to support this couple's endeavor to have a family.
