Intro

Hi everyone! A few days ago, I posted a story seeking to raise funds for the next PIT//STOP and had a lot of interest in support, so I decided to make a lil GoFundMe <3

The reality of throwing events (especially raves) in NYC is that it is really arduous, expensive, and a lot can go wrong! I am also the sole producer, promoter, booker, investor, etc., of PIT//STOP - and all the money that I put into the party comes from the humble income I make as a small business owner.

As you guys can see and feel, we’re creating something special here at P//S - fostering culture and creativity in NYC when it’s needed the most. NYC underground nightlife is dying because it’s really not feasible to throw these kinds of events without support from the community.

I’d love to take P//S to the next level by booking talent from out-of-state, really pumping up the production value of the party, and launching new initiatives under PIT//STOP such as livestreams, merchandise, live performances & cultural events programming. That is why for this next round, I am raising money to make that possible! If you're wondering how much it costs to throw a party in New York, here's an estimate -

Expense Breakdown
  • Artist Fees (Pay, Travel, Lodging, Agency Fees): $8,000
  • Venue Rental: $3,000
  • Audio/Visual Equipment & Labor: $3,000
  • Total: approx. $14,000

Fundraising Goal: $8,000
Throwing a solid rave can easily cost up to $15,000. Of course, some of the expenses are recuperated from ticket sales and best case scenario, you can even make some money. My second party lost $6,000, but fortunately, the previous two have made a little bit of coin. The reason why I'm trying to raise these funds now is because realistically, I cannot risk another $5k+ loss, and that's always a possibility when you're throwing parties.

All of the money fundraised or gained through ticket sales goes back to the NYC nightlife community:

From our lineups thus far, 83% of talent has been Black or POC, 94% identify as queer, and 34% identify as Trans women. Of the production crew hired (door, coat check, lighting, etc.), 86% are Black or POC, 71% are queer.

Although we do not market the collective as being a specifically POC/Queer-party exclusively (because it isn’t), I believe it’s important to emphasize the fact that our collective is putting bread on the tables of underrepresented talent within the scene. And we do not pay meager rates either - everyone who is booked or hired is walking home with a cute BAG!

Moreover, each PIT//STOP is a fundraising effort. We have raised money for different initiatives including assistance for Palestinian refugee families, Brooklyn-based nonprofits for low-income women and their children (The Jeremiah Project), and for trans women to get their FFS surgeries. To date, PIT//STOP has raised $1,434 over the span of a year.

We are also happy to accept favorable loans, and investments!
If you're like me and see the potential in P//S, and would like to invest in the company, please reach out to me. We're happy to pay back loans of $1,000 or more provided that the party at least breaks even. If it doesn't, we'll repay the debt following future parties once they've become profitable. For significant donations of $5,000+, we are open to profit-sharing terms as well.
