Becki's MedLife Trip to Peru!

Hello everyone,

My name is Becki, and I am first-year pre-med student at Emory University. I am reaching out to share my upcoming journey to Peru with you.

For the past few months, I have been involved in school with Emory MEDLIFE, which is the Emory branch of the MEDLIFE organization dedicated to the development of medicine, education, and development for low-income families in Latin America. MEDLIFE aims to empower lower-income areas in fighting for equal access to healthcare and cultivating safer communities around their homes. The organization aims to inform people of the MEDLIFE mission and promote Service Learning Trips that gather volunteers to provide mobile medical clinics and volunteer care for these populations in Latin America.

At Emory, MEDLIFE provides pre-med students like me with resources and support through weekly events that are intended to aid us in our pre-med undergraduate careers and make an impactful difference in the community. For example, every week we have volunteer sessions at the Hope Lodge to maintain hygienic spaces and areas for food preparation for immunocompromised cancer patients. Additionally, MEDLIFE holds academic support events coordinated by our team to provide guidance and tutoring to students during exam periods.

This summer, Emory MEDLIFE will be going on a Service Learning Trip to Lima, Peru in July. We will be directly aiding doctors in medical clinics, contributing to building projects, and doing a lot of meaningful work for families in Peru.

For the longest time, I have been committed to make a positive impact whenever the opportunity presents itself. So, when I saw the chance to go on this trip, I knew I had to participate. I hope to contribute positively to the lives of those in need end to be a part of a collective effort. Your support, will be invaluable in helping me achieve this goal.
