On March 13th, 2020 - the first case of Covid-19 appeared on the Navajo reservation. Spanning 27,000 miles in the four corners region of the American Southwest, the Navajo reservation sustains a population of 170,000 indigenous Americans. Having recorded over 11,000 Covid-19 cases, the Navajo have more cases per capita than any regional state in the United States of America.
 

A historically underserved population, the rapid spread of Covid-19 on the Navajo reservation underscores the urgency in providing direct and immediate relief during this unprecedented time of need. The Beauty Way Foundation was established to provide immediate relief to the Navajo people—through assessment of local and regional needs, motivating direct intervention in terms of physical, emotional and material necessities. In this way, The Beauty Way Foundation seeks to comfort and uplift the Navajo in this time of challenge, through empowering Navajo peoples on their own terms.
 

The Beauty Way Foundation is committed to working with Indigenous Americans in ways that nourish and respect the essential integrity and autonomy of native peoples. In partnership with Native Americans, The Beauty Way Foundation functions as a platform for direct, compassionate action in addressing and transforming the heritage of colonization, and the pursuant patterns of violence and negligence left in the wake of colonial history.
