Hi my name is Emily and I am fundraising to help support beautiful baby Grace and her family in the most horrendous time of their lives. They have been at Alderhey children’s hospital for over a month now and won’t be able to come home anytime soon. Knowing this is so hard as neither mum or dad have left Graces side since been admitted over a month ago. They also trying to give big brother Rowan as much normality as possible which is extremely hard for him also. Please help me support the family whose life has been turned upside down in an instant. As you can imagine how hard this is on the family emotionally and financially. Any support is massively appreciated. All donations will go directly to Grace and her family. Thank you for reading and support x
Grace was born on 18th December perfectly healthy the family and doctors thought. At six days old Graces mum trusted her instincts and took Grace to hospital as her breathing was laboured. Grace was admitted on Christmas Eve onto children’s ward the drs weren’t able to get a cannula into Grace she was given antibiotics into her leg. Christmas Day Grace hadn’t improved but now her hands and feet were blue she had also stopped feeding and her heart rate was high.
Early hours of Boxing Day Grace had a rash on her leg, when the consultant arrived they called the NWTS team before drilling into Grace bone marrow in her leg to give her fluids. Grace at this point went into Cardiac arrest and stopped breathing for 10 minutes before the team were able to bring her back thank god. Grace was transported to Alderhey children’s hospital where they told Jodie and James how very poorly Grace was, Grace was discovered to have a heart condition coarctation of the aorta, hypoplastic arch and hole in her heart that was undetected at scans. Graces body had traumatic effects from the cardiac arrest and had to have bowel surgery to remove three parts of her bowel. Little warrior princess came through the bowel surgery like the miracle that she is. Then spent a couple of days recovering before the team had no choice but to do open heart surgery to give Grace any chance of survival. Grace had her heart surgery the longest 9 hours of the family’s life and she did great. The family don’t know if there is any long lasting damage to Grace from the cardiac arrest as yet and Grace still has a very long way to go but she has defied all the odds and with the help and support of everyone around her knows how very special she is. We can’t thank people enough for helping save Grace there are no words for how amazing these people are. Grace is making steps in the right direction slowly with a way to go yet. Grace is such a fighter and has been through so much already at just six weeks old. If you can help support Grace and her family that would be truly amazing as they have a long road ahead and worrying financially is something we can help try to make a little easier for them. Thank you for taking the time to read and support we will try to give updates along the way x
