Despite the Pandemic, Baltimore's own Beats Not Bullets program has continued to flourish, being awarded the 2022 SXSW Community Service Award, and recently landing on prominent media outlets such as Billboard, Rolling Stone, FOX, and CBS.

Last summer, thanks to your fundraising efforts, we housed a highly successful cohort at Lineup Room Recording studios. Beyond staff costs, equipment, and industry opportunities, we utilized funding for medical-grade air filters and multiple studio room rentals to ensure proper COVID precautions were taken throughout the experience. We graduated an incredible group of young men and women and are continuing to utilize our funding to provide them with opportunities after graduating from our program.

Despite our recent success, we are still a small nonprofit that will continue to need a community that believes in us in order to succeed. We want to repeat and further last summer's success for summer 2022 and very much need your help to do so.

Whether virtual cohorts in partnership with the city, summer cohorts at the studio, or current after-school programming in multiple Baltimore city schools, Beats Not Bullets continues to survive and thrive, and aims not only to save lives but to better them exponentially: instilling much needed financial literacy and entrepreneurial skills that extend beyond music, reverberating into communities for generations to come.

The Baltimore-based music program, Beats Not Bullets, is celebrating its sixth year of operation. The community-focused program specializes in teaching youth the “ins and outs” of the music business and other disciplines. What started as a kernel of an idea, has transformed into a fully staffed operation supported by Dream Bigger Community Institute (DBCI) a 501(c)(3).

BNB is staffed by music industry professionals and provides participants the opportunity to experiment, practice, create and record music using instruments, industry-standard computer software, and audio equipment. We assist youth to further develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills leading to better cognition and long-term decision-making.

To date, over 600 youth aged 12 to 20, have enjoyed the Beats Not Bullets concept. Graduates have independently produced musical projects, secured production placements and obtained internships with local recording studios, and positively impact their families.

Please take a second to donate to a truly momentous cause that is impacting lives locally and making waves nationally. For more information, don’t hesitate to reach out:
