BEAT THE STREETS PROGRAM

Happy New Year!!! My name is Arthur Cartwright and I am the program director for a program called. BEAT THE STREETS. It is a unique program that teaches social and emotional learning through the form of live entertainment.

This program is in its 11th year and throughout the years we have only done two fundraisers, one in 2020 at height of Covid, and this one now. 2022 was the biggest year for our program as nearly 1,000,000 students have been exposed to our program thus far from Detroit and Chicago, all the way to Charlotte NC, and Atlanta Ga. Through BEAT THE STREETS, students learn lessons on conflict resolution, college/career prep, goal setting, effects of drug use, gang activity, and most importantly, how to work together instead of against each other to achieve a common goal.

To keep BEAT THE STREETS afloat costs a lot, and we do not want to put ALL of that cost on schools. In 2023, we plan to spread our message as we want to reach more students and continue to service those schools that come to our program every year. We need your help to do that.

We use the arts as a powerful tool to play out very real scenarios that students are facing today and more importantly, we give them some constructive ways to handle these situations. Over the years, we have heard countless stories from students about how BEAT THE STREETS have stopped them from harming others, harming themselves, de-escalating conflicts, and becoming better students. BEAT THE STREETS has changed school climates, and increased literacy in schools and many students have pursued higher education as a direct result of the BEAT THE STREETS program.

I, myself was always a visual learner. It was better for me to see it than for someone telling me about it. BEAT THE STREETS helps students see a visual representation of what certain paths could lead to, and what to do about it.

We plan to use this funding to secure venues for our program, promote our program to new territories and school districts, and partner to provide additional resources to help students after they are exposed to our program (after-school programs, workshops, books etc.).

Please consider helping the BEAT THE STREETS program continue our work throughout the country for students in need. We appreciate all of the support!
