Bea's Journey: Cancer & Homelessness
Donation protected
From sweet Bea, a single mom in Royal Oak in need of our help:
"My diagnosis started in August 2022 with triple-negative breast cancer in my right breast with lymph node involvement. I went through heavy chemo treatment and immunology, a double mastectomy, and a chemo pill until January 2024. I am a domestic violence victim (the father of my children). My divorce process began last year.
My story is too sad and I cannot give too many details for legal reasons, but my cancer came back in August 2024, I believe due to all the stress. The body/mind connection is real.
At that time, I was already feeling weak. I got a blood test called Natera. While doctors told me I looked good and my analytics looked OK, I requested an MRI of my brain because I was having severe pain in my brain and vertigo, and the medicine I was given was not alleviating my symptoms.
It turns out that I had 3 tumors in my brain, one that needed surgery that day on Sept 5, 2024! It was triple negative with HER2-low. The outcome was that I could die, and if I made it, I would either have a stroke or would need therapy for a long time. This meant the cancer was metastasized to the brain and after surgery, I underwent radiation to the brain, and now I am doing chemo treatment with Enhertu with the port.
I am still waiting for the divorce to be finalized around December 15, 2024. I have two kids, and I have been drowned with all sorts of fees, including medical. If I do not raise funds quickly, I will be homeless on December 15.
