Hi, I’m Sam. I’m a Melbourne DJ, event host and disability advocate, and I’m working on something I’ve wanted to bring to life for a long time — Bean Drop Sesh.

Bean Drop Sesh is a mobile coffee van bringing together good coffee, live DJ sets and community.

The idea is to create something that can pop up at community events, disability events, corporate events, sporting events and other locations around Melbourne — serving coffee while creating a fun, welcoming atmosphere through music.

I’ve spent years working in the disability community, advocating for inclusion and showing that disability doesn’t have to limit independence, work, business or being part of the wider community. Bean Drop Sesh is another way for me to put that into action.

I don’t want this to feel like just another coffee van. I want it to become a mobile community hub — somewhere people can pull up, grab a coffee, hear some good music, have a chat and feel welcome.

As a DJ, music will be a big part of the experience. I’ll be playing at events myself, with the opportunity to bring in other guest DJs as Bean Drop Sesh grows.

Coffee at the official launch will be free, giving people the chance to come down, experience Bean Drop Sesh and see what the concept is all about. After the launch, the aim is to keep the coffee affordably priced so Bean Drop Sesh remains accessible and welcoming to as many people as possible.

I’m putting my own money, time and energy into getting this off the ground, but setting up a proper mobile coffee operation comes with significant costs. Funds raised will help towards the van, the fit-out, coffee equipment, accessible modifications and the equipment needed to get Bean Drop Sesh out into the community.

This fundraiser isn’t about asking anyone to feel sorry for me.

It’s about backing an idea, supporting a disability-led small business and helping create something positive that can bring people together.
